Abstract

Nowadays, especially in Malaysia there are various factors that become landslides or slope failure usually occurs in areas with slopes such as slope of roads or slope of residential areas. When this case occurs, especially in residential areas, consumers will incur losses when the risks to the residential area and the cost of maintenance are high and very worrying. Therefore, the objective of this study is to determine the extent of soil movement during slope failure according to slope geometry, soil stability, soil types, and assess the risk of slope failure on residential areas. Thus, with the use of numerical modeling software, namely ‘PLAXIS 2D’ software, slope failure analysis is also determined as a result of soil movement by according to soil properties and slope geometry. In addition, this case study will take into account height through site investigation, slope angle and soil properties selected by consideration of various elemental information. Data obtained and collected on the slope analysis of ‘PLAXIS 2D’ software, buffer zones were also produced to determine the risk of slope failure in residential areas.
